The changeover into the New Year is complete. All the cogs in the edelschmiede are once again turning in sync and the postman has had to call on us twice already, in order to load up the mountain of orders onto his yellow sled. On that note: Happy New Year! There are a number of small projects that have been on hold for a while now, but are no longer content to remain unmentioned.
We have added to the selection of seal sets for the timing case for cih & 24V engines, as well as adding the seal for the ignition distributer, at no extra cost, of course.
The shaft seal ring for the differential casing of the cih rear axle with extension has undergone a big update: we are now working with the high-tech material Viton, which means that as of now the shaft seal ring is no longer black, rather brown. It also has an alternating twist and, naturally, the approved dust protection lips. In brown, or in other words made of Viton, are also a number of other seal rings. Where we could, we have upgraded these here. This means that it is highly possible that although you purchased a black seal according to the picture shown in the web-shop or on eBay, you instead received a brown one. If that’s the case, there is no need to worry, you have just received a part in the new level of edelschmiede quality.
Another few things that have been on the waiting list, or rather have just been released from the queue, are a number of products that were once upon a time on offer in the edelschmiede, but that for one reason or another fell by the wayside. Due to consistent customer requests or to improved purchasing, we can offer the following products, once again, without delay:
Enough now with the old, we’ve got something new!
As a result of constant market observation and consistent wishes from our customers, we have collected a number of new ideas and thus we now have some more attractive items in the edelschmiede storage racks. This time we have a few things for the cih fraction, but we are also spoiling the 24V drivers with some highlights, such as the suction hose from the air flow sensor to the throttle valve. This flexible pipe has only been sporadically available for a while now, and many 24Vs suffer from defective hoses and thus from false air in their systems.
The list continues with throttle valves, the so-called 4 litre throttle valve for C30SE / C40SE engines. We are offering these throttle valves as an exchange, they are then glass-blasted, completely cleaned, measured and fitted out with a 70mm flap valve! After this, nothing will stand in the way of performance 😉 After completing the assembly, the valve will be set to basics, greased and the screws sealed. Excellent valve, but please note: As an exchange! Which means a usable old part needs to be sent to us. Unfortunately, these throttle valves are still works in progress. The prototype is a dream, with final delivery starting towards the beginning of February…
Throttle valves are by no means only of interest in the 24Vs – our 2.0E cih machines also regularly suffer from problems stemming from knocked out shafts and sagging throttle valves. This was really the stumbling block that first spurred us into grappling with this issue in more detail. The success of this can be clearly seen, as you can now purchase a completely reworked throttle valve for the 2.0E cih, regardless of whether its for an L- or LE- Jetronic injection system. In more detail, this means:
– The old throttle valve will be completely taken apart
– All individual parts will be glass-blasted
– (Steel) Metal parts will be newly galvanised
– The bearings site in the throttle valve casing will be spindled, to accommodate high-quality bearings
– The throttle shaft will be furnished with grooves, so that retaining rings can prevent the throttle valve from moving
– After being cleaned and oiled, all individual parts will be remounted with the help of a range of new parts (idle screws, inner throttle valve springs, etc.)
– The throttle valve will be set to basics and all important screw-connections sealed
– All installation materials enclosed
Attention, this applies here, too: This part is sold in exchange, which means we urgently need your old parts back. You will be able to enjoy a much quieter engine run with these new, reconditioned throttle valves, as the irritating mechanics of the old, worn-out valve is now a thing of the past! Also available for the 3.0E!
And now that we are finally on the topic of the cih, we also have a new rubber bit for you. The part known by rear-wheel-drivers as the rear axle “horns” is once again available in original quality! This rubber – metal element connects the aluminium neck of the (large) rear axle from Ascona / Manta B and Kadett C with the crossbar, and has been unavailable for ages. This new part greatly complements our other products for the rear axle, such as for instance the centre bearing buffer ring or the corresponding centre bearing. And now it’s possible to restore the rear axle extension to a good-as-new condition. In terms of quality, as already mentioned above, this is as good as the original!
To finish off this post we have a few “bits and bobs” still to mention. We have the valve cap seal for the 2.4i valve cap in C24NE engines back in our catalogue and by chance we have also stumbled across a batch of intake manifold seals (original Opel) for C20XE / C20LET, in other words the 2.0i – 16V (& Turbo) engines, which is at home in at least one or two rear-wheel-drives… 😉 Lucky last, we have a jewel for the toolbox and one for the transmission. The black Opel sealant has replaced the green one here with us. This is much more universally applicable and, luckily enough, cheaper 🙂 So, Opel black is, as of now THE chemical sealant for everything that requires a bit of support in the sealing department. And for the transmission, more specifically for the release lever for the rear-wheel-drive switch box, we now have another important little screw on our books. The ballhead bolt, which acts as a counter-bearing for the clutch cable, holding the release lever in check, is now available freshly galvanised and with a corresponding lock nut.
Yet another construction site: The international delivery costs are currently being “tuned”, albeit in a downwards direction: The delivery for many EU & non-EU countries will be much cheaper, with immediate effect. Yet another reason to order trhough the edelschmiede. We have also integrated New Zealand, Australia and the USA into our list of countries to which we deliver, so that the time-consuming deliveries per email will disappear 🙂
Sooo, I think that covers just about everything, now that I’ve listed and briefly described the most important new items. I hope that I haven’t bored you all – and that I’ll see you again soon on these pages 🙂
