A fresh season is just around the corner. The last urgently needed parts are being ordered, which means that the DHL package container here at the edelschmiede could still get a bit fuller. Our valued colleagues over at Müritz aren’t the only ones with lots to do – things are getting a bit frantic here in the heath, although we still have all our deliveries well in hand. And after hours, I’ve even managed to dig out a few treasures and have uploaded some nice and useful things in the edelschmiede web-shop.
The part that I still owe you from my last newsletter, the 24V RS-throttle valve is also finally in the shop.
Admittedly, there are only a limited number in stock at the moment, as we firstly need enough old parts to have reconditioned. I’ve exhausted my entire stock of these particular used throttle valves, which are now all on their way to becoming new parts, as the 2.0E and 3.0E throttle valves are already sold out 🙂 By the way, while we are on the topic of ‘owing’: I announced the ignition sets for 6-cylinder cih & 24V machines in June last year and they are at long last online – sorry for the extremely long delay.
The following items, however, are brand new in the edelschmiede’s shelves. Let’s start with the tools; As a result of many requests, we now have a jet gauge, for determining the size of the carburettor jets, in our catalogue.
Likewise, the notorious “7mm Allen – key”, which we need for a diverse range of jobs in our cih engines, has been added. This hexagon socket loosens the set-screws in the timing case or engine block and the vent-screw (now in the edelschmiede shop!) up on the thermostat housing. We have this key available in the normal option, as an (Hazet-) angle wrench, and naturally also in the high-end option as a half inch Hazet Allen socket with ballhead in stock 🙂
In order to make the work with, and on, the brake line a bit nicer, we finally have the small pipe clips in stock. Pipe clips are the small, black plastic bits that always break off when one is trying to reattach a part after painting. These are now available, good and new, for a small price.
In addition to the aforementioned throttle valves, we can now deliver another component for the injection systems from the 2.0E and 3.0E, namely the grey injection valve for the L-Jetronic for the 4-cylinder cih and 6-cylinder cih engines. These are just about ready to be sent to the scrap-heap in many vehicles, but we now have some, original from Bosch, and ready to go straight off the shelves. Unfortunately, we only have the grey injection nozzles available at the moment, but we are working on a solution for the yellow valves for the LE-Jetronic found in the later models.
On the topic of fuel, we’ve had the fuel pump for the injector models for ages and they were very successful, however we didn’t have the model for Omega A & Senator B with the integrated pump. That is finally a thing of the past, as we now also boast the integrated fuel pump here in the edelschmiede. We’ve even added the Bosch Lambda oxygen sensor (0 258 003 300 as a substitute for 0258 003 017, or 0 258 003 139) for all of us interested in 6-cylinder cih & 24V engines and even for a range of 4-cylinders. With this, the Motronic can run properly again and the petrol pump attendant will need to double check the pipes, because with this part the carriage will require about a gallon less of the expensive juice.
The next topic is the water pump, or rather it’s surroundings. We announced in the New Year’s edition of this publication that the mundane fan-belt was in the shop, and now the viscous coupling unit for the water pump has arrived to join it. After the fixed fan had served its time, Opel thought it had made an improvement with this viscous coupling unit, but unfortunately this wasn’t always the case. By now, most of the coupling units are all worn out and the fan either doesn’t work at all, or it’s always on.
To finish off with, I want to quickly mention the following items:
The hinge for the petrol cap cover for the Kadett C Caravan.
We also deliver clutch cables and speedometer cables for Ascona / Manta B and Kadett C.
Manifold seals for the 6-cylinder cih 2.5E and 3.0E are now available to complement the oil sump- & valve cap seals. The oil sump seal for aluminium oil sumps in C24NE engines is ready for immediate delivery.
The brake line distributer with cutting ring, provides a nice bit of assistance, as with this you wont have to crimp anything. This is a nifty idea, as you can do away with specialised tools and knowledge for the job.
March is almost over and the new season is just around the corner. My Ascona is already wistfully waiting for her first drive with me 🙂
Until next time,
Thomas
